What is Salesforce and who uses it?

Introduction

Many of you have landed on my page not because you are curious about Salesforce but because you need to learn it for your work. Trailhead provides you with lots of helpful study materials, which is still hard for you to grasp concepts like Account, Opportunity, or Admin. In addition, Even if you look at the service page of Salesforce, you have no idea what it is. I've decided to write articles to help you better understand Salesforce and other things with my knowledge and study materials.

 

What is Salesforce?

It is a SaaS-based CRM platform that is widely used by more than 17,000 companies in more than 100 countries in the world since its foundation in 1999 (Link).

 

In South Korea, many companies have implemented Salesforce, such as L'Oréal, Mercedes-Benz, LG Chem, and Shinsegae. It seems that the implementations generally take place in large companies. It is rare to find cases of implementations by startups or small businesses in South Korea. Although Salesforce provides solutions targeting startups and small businesses, I have not yet come across cases in work. Personally, I believe that (1) Salesforce has not yet become widely known in Korea, (2) the cost is not affordable, and (3) it requires Salesforce professionals for maintenance after implementation, making it difficult to adopt in small-scale businesses. 

 

C-level people are happy

 

Once you get familiar with Salesforce, you will notice that people at high levels are generally happy about using Salesforce while employees at low levels are less happy. People at high levels can see and take care of their human resources, sales, management, and other things in an easier way. On the other hand, people at low levels have to learn new things, not to mention their own work. Based on my experience, salespeople tend to hesitate to use it because they somehow have to reveal their own sensitive sales resources.
